Teen Film Fest 2010

This is the video that i made this summer to enter in the library's Film Festival. I had a lot of fun making it and am pretty happy with the way it turned out. It also won 5 awards! I couldn't believe it! Thanks to the people (and animals) who played in it! If you haven't already seen them, you can check out our other videos here.

Six Flags

We have been going to Six Flags a lot lately because we have season passes. It's lots of fun!

One of my favourite rides is the Wheelie! It's spins around in a circle, and then it goes upside-down, but because of the centrifugal force, you stay down on the seat, so it feels really weird, but i like it!

We're going to go again in about two weeks! Can't wait!

Alice in Wonderland

So we went to see Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" on Friday! It was so much fun! We all dressed up as the characters in the movie. I was Alice, and we also had the Cheshire Cat, 3 Mad Hatters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, a march hare, and 2 white rabbits. I had so much fun making my costume! We found a blue shirt at Goodwill that was a little to big, so my mom altered it to fit me, and i made a blue skirt out of ribbons and tulle. I didn't have my camera with me, so when my mom gets all the pictures uploaded on her flickr, i will post some!

Artist Trading Cards

Ok, i just found this unfinished post that i had started a couple weeks ago, and then forgotten about, so I'll just finish it now.

I have mentioned a few times on my blog, the awesome teen program at our library. Well, a few months ago, they started an artist trading card board on the wall. Artist trading cards a little peices of art on a card the size of a baseball card. There's just a bunch of little clear slots on the wall full of cards. Then you can trade the cards you make for other cards you like. It's been so much fun making cards all the time, and i think it has inspired me to explore lots of types of art that i don't usually make, and i like that. I have collected over 100 trading cards now! I'm so excited! It's one of the things i look foward to every week, just going to the library to see what new art is up on the wall. I took a few pictures of all my cards.....

Wakulla Springs

I didn't get a chance to post these photos because some of the hotels we stayed at didn't have wi-fi. But i'm going to try to get the rest of them posted in the next day or two. We just got back in from Florida last night.

These pictures are from Wakulla Springs, in Florida. It has a big spring down at the bottom that shoots out water.We went here on Saturday, after we went to the Plantation. The water was so clear, you could see all the way down to the bottom in most places!

there were even some crocodiles, but they blended in so well, you can really see them in my pictures...

and my favorites...manatees! We saw a bunch of manatees! There were really big ones and small ones, too. It was so cool! I had no idea that there were going to be manatees there. We could see them really good in the clear water, but it was kinda hard to take pictures of them....

First day in Florida. . .

Yesterday we drove most of the day until we got to Tallahasee, but after we got there the firsth thing we did was go to the capitol building. We got there just in time, and got to see a little bit of it before it closed.

Today we went to the Pebble Hill Plantation. It was so cool! It's a really big old house and lots of grounds. We went on a tour through the house. Unfortunetly, you couldn't take pictures inside of the house, but it was beautiful! Here's a few pictures of the outside though.

Florida...

Well, i'm off to Florida in the morning. My Grandparents are here, and they are taking me and Hazel to Florida for a few days. First we are going to Tallahasse for one night and then we're going to Panama City, which is right on the beach. I've never been to Florida before, so it's gonna be lots of fun! Well, i need to go to bed now, because we have to get up early in the morning. I'll blog after i get back!

Mobile

Recently i made this mobile for my friend Megan's birthday.

I folded all the boxes out of oragami paper. They're really cool, you fold them and then blow into a hole at the top, and they just puff up. I think there were about 25 boxes on this one.



I found this really cool branch out in our yard, and spray painted it black.
Then i threaded all the boxes, and they each have a little bead on the bottom so they won't fall off (the threading part probably took the longest)



Then i just tied all the boxes on at different lengths.

While i was working on it, i had it hanging under the ceiling fan in my room, and it would rotate slowly if the fan was on. It looked so pretty



I've seen alot of oragami mobiles, but i don't think i've seen one with the boxes.

I had alot of fun making this mobile, and i like it so much, i've started working on one for me now. :)

Film Festival

This summer at the library, they hosted the first ever Teen Film Fest. At the beginning of the summer, there was a movie-making workshop for a week, that my friends and I went to. In the class we talked about acting, lighting, directing, scripts, sets, all that kind of stuff. It was really cool, and we learned a lot. I had a lot of fun working on our videos. We did all the filming in one day, and I wanna thank the Hubbards for lending us their video camera! The editing took a little longer, but my parents bought iMovie '09 for Bea and I to use and it is AWESOME! It's so much better than iMovie '08 and it was really easy, too. The Film Fest was a red carpet event, and they encouraged everyone to dress up for it. First there was a belly-dancing performance. We had been working on the choreography all summer, but I couldn't be in it since I missed the last practice. Then they showed all the movies. There were 7 in all. After they showed them all every body got to vote for their favorite one, in each category, kinda like the Oscars. It was really cool, and the library might be doing it again next year! They're putting a disc with all of the movies on it for people to check out, too. Well, that's all I have to say for now! Thanks everybody for being so supportive and coming to the Film Festival!
