Guess what! A lady named Ruth Wakefield invented chocolate chip cookies by accident!
Ruth Wakefield and her husband Keneth ran a bed and breakfast called the Toll House inn. One evening she got the idea to make a chocolate butter cookie so she broke up a bars of semi-sweet chocolate.She thought that it would mix together with the dough and make all chocolate cookies. But it didn't. The chocolate just stayed in lumps. So now the chocolate chip cookie is the most popular kind of cookie in America! I think that's pretty interesting.
