This is the video that i made this summer to enter in the library's Film Festival. I had a lot of fun making it and am pretty happy with the way it turned out. It also won 5 awards! Six Flags

We have been going to Six Flags a lot lately because we have season passes. It's lots of fun!

One of my favourite rides is the Wheelie! It's spins around in a circle, and then it goes upside-down, but because of the centrifugal force, you stay down on the seat, so it feels really weird, but i like it!

We're going to go again in about two weeks! Can't wait!

Wow, i haven't posted in almost 2 months.....I guess I've been busy. A lot has happened since i last posted. I've been to Six Flags....twice, my grandparents came to visit, been to the library lots of times, made and traded many ATCs, hung out with friends.... And summer hasn't even started yet! I have so much planed for this summer already, i probably will have hardly any time for blogging. I'm going to Texas, I'm going to Minnesota, going to 3 different summer camps, plus there's the Summer Reading Program at the library. And of course going swimming all the time. And we got season passes to Six Flags and White Water, so we'll be going to those places alot this summer too! Oh and also i am going to be moving downstairs in our basement soon! I'm really excited. I get to get a new bed, (thanks mom and dad!) so i have been searching for a bed frame and bed linens and stuff! It's so hard to pick, though, there are so many to choose from! I can't wait though, the bedroom is almost double the size of the room i have now, and the closet and bathroom are huge! We are going to paint too, but i haven't decided the color yet either! I was going to wait until i picked the comforter, so it will match, but i haven't picked yet....I will definitely post pictures of my room once i have it all set up downstairs.My birthday is coming up soon, too, and I'm going to get my drivers permit! Speaking of birthdays...it's my iPod's birthday today! I have had it for a year now! Yay! Anyways.....i should go now, i'll blog again soon!

Alice in Wonderland

So we went to see Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" on Friday! It was so much fun! We all dressed up as the characters in the movie. I was Alice, and we also had the Cheshire Cat, 3 Mad Hatters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, a march hare, and 2 white rabbits. I had so much fun making my costume! We found a blue shirt at Goodwill that was a little to big, so my mom altered it to fit me, and i made a blue skirt out of ribbons and tulle. I didn't have my camera with me, so when my mom gets all the pictures uploaded on her flickr, i will post some!

Artist Trading Cards

Ok, i just found this unfinished post that i had started a couple weeks ago, and then forgotten about, so I'll just finish it now.

I have mentioned a few times on my blog, the awesome teen program at our library. Well, a few months ago, they started an artist trading card board on the wall. Artist trading cards a little peices of art on a card the size of a baseball card. There's just a bunch of little clear slots on the wall full of cards. Then you can trade the cards you make for other cards you like. It's been so much fun making cards all the time, and i think it has inspired me to explore lots of types of art that i don't usually make, and i like that. I have collected over 100 trading cards now! I'm so excited! It's one of the things i look foward to every week, just going to the library to see what new art is up on the wall. I took a few pictures of all my cards.....

Wakulla Springs

I didn't get a chance to post these photos because some of the hotels we stayed at didn't have wi-fi. But i'm going to try to get the rest of them posted in the next day or two. We just got back in from Florida last night.

These pictures are from Wakulla Springs, in Florida. It has a big spring down at the bottom that shoots out water.We went here on Saturday, after we went to the Plantation. The water was so clear, you could see all the way down to the bottom in most places!

there were even some crocodiles, but they blended in so well, you can really see them in my pictures...

and my favorites...manatees! We saw a bunch of manatees! There were really big ones and small ones, too. It was so cool! I had no idea that there were going to be manatees there. We could see them really good in the clear water, but it was kinda hard to take pictures of them....

First day in Florida. . .

Yesterday we drove most of the day until we got to Tallahasee, but after we got there the firsth thing we did was go to the capitol building. We got there just in time, and got to see a little bit of it before it closed.

Today we went to the Pebble Hill Plantation. It was so cool! It's a really big old house and lots of grounds. We went on a tour through the house. Unfortunetly, you couldn't take pictures inside of the house, but it was beautiful! Here's a few pictures of the outside though.

Florida...

Well, i'm off to Florida in the morning. My Grandparents are here, and they are taking me and Hazel to Florida for a few days. First we are going to Tallahasse for one night and then we're going to Panama City, which is right on the beach. I've never been to Florida before, so it's gonna be lots of fun! Well, i need to go to bed now, because we have to get up early in the morning. I'll blog after i get back!

Mobile

Recently i made this mobile for my friend Megan's birthday.

I folded all the boxes out of oragami paper. They're really cool, you fold them and then blow into a hole at the top, and they just puff up. I think there were about 25 boxes on this one.

I found this really cool branch out in our yard, and spray painted it black.
Then i threaded all the boxes, and they each have a little bead on the bottom so they won't fall off (the threading part probably took the longest)

Then i just tied all the boxes on at different lengths.

While i was working on it, i had it hanging under the ceiling fan in my room, and it would rotate slowly if the fan was on. It looked so pretty

I've seen alot of oragami mobiles, but i don't think i've seen one with the boxes.

I had alot of fun making this mobile, and i like it so much, i've started working on one for me now. :)

Film Festival

This summer at the library, they hosted the first ever Teen Film Fest. At the beginning of the summer, there was a movie-making workshop for a week, that my friends and I went to. In the class we talked about acting, lighting, directing, scripts, sets, all that kind of stuff. It was really cool, and we learned a lot. I had a lot of fun working on our videos. We did all the filming in one day, and I wanna thank the Hubbards for lending us their video camera! The editing took a little longer, but my parents bought iMovie '09 for Bea and I to use and it is AWESOME! It's so much better than iMovie '08 and it was really easy, too. The Film Fest was a red carpet event, and they encouraged everyone to dress up for it. First there was a belly-dancing performance. We had been working on the choreography all summer, but I couldn't be in it since I missed the last practice. Then they showed all the movies. There were 7 in all. After they showed them all every body got to vote for their favorite one, in each category, kinda like the Oscars. It was really cool, and the library might be doing it again next year! They're putting a disc with all of the movies on it for people to check out, too. Well, that's all I have to say for now! Thanks everybody for being so supportive and coming to the Film Festival!

Henna!

At the library the other day, we did a Henna workshop. It was really cool! Henna is a type of plant. It is used as a dye. It stays on for a while and then goes away. It did mine on my hand. You just squeeze it out of the little bottle the way you want it. Here's some pictures!

This is what my hand looked like after i put the henna on! It had to be all wrapped up so it would stay nice overnight until i could take it off. It was weird doing stuff with it on though!

And before and after pics! The first one was right after i put the henna on there and is was kinda thick and gloppy. The second picture is after i took the henna off in the morning! It's more of a reddish brown in that picture.

Right now the design is pretty faded, but you can still see it.

Well, I need to get back to packing. I'm leaving for Minnesota in the morning! Bye!

OK, I was trying to post all the pictures from DC in one post but it was taking a long time and it was getting confusing and i kept putting it off, but i want to get them up here! So i am going to do it in a couple posts, that will be easier. Now for the pictures!

On our first whole day there we went to the National Zoo!

This is my new iPod touch that i ordered! I can put music on it, but i can also play games and get on the internet! It's basically like an iPhone, it just doesn't have a phone on it. Yesterday i tried to post, but it wouldn't work for some reason.....oh well, i think it's working now! I haven't blogged in a while. It's been kinda hard to think of good things to blog about lately. And i've been kinda busy, too.

Last weekend i went to a Twilight DVD release party at a Borders Bookstore. There was games and stuff and then you could buy the movie at midnight. Then after that, my mom and i went home and watched it, so we were up until about 2:30. :D I have been listening to the soudtrack to the movie alot lately. I really like it. Oh! And i got a Twilight poster. It's hanging up in my room. I think it looks pretty cool. :)

It snowed here! We played outside for a long time and made snowmen and i made a mini one too, with an icicle nose and a crown. It was so cute! Then branches started falling out of trees all around our neighborhood, and the power went out! It was out for 27 hours here! Since about 4:30 yesterday afternoon, until about 7:30 this evening! So we had no lights, no heat, no electricity. And it was cold outside! Luckily, we have a gas fireplace, so we all got out sleeping bags and slept in the living room on the floor so we could stay warm. And i didn't get any pictures of the snow since my camera had a dead battery, and i couldn't charge it up because the power was out! So i'll take some pictures tomorrow to put up here.
Oh and happy birthday to my little sister Hazel who turned 10 today!

I have been knitting this scarf. My mom taught me to knit when i was about 7 or 8 and i just wasn't really getting it, so i stopped. But now i tried it again and it's pretty easy for me and fun!

I haven't blogged in a while so i thought i would just talk about some of the recent things i've done.

i got green streaks in my hair! i like dying my hair bright colors like that.

we used manic panic electric lizard hair dye

and we got a new dog! her name is Lilly. she is a poodle with a lot of fluffy hair! she's really sweet and likes to play. i think Georgia's really enjoying having a doggy friend to play with. they have been getting along really well!

the library has been having monthly belly dancing workshops at the teen program and my friend and i have been going to them. there has been 2 classes so far and i think it's really fun! i decided to get a coin belt of my own.

and i got some bangles. they jingle too!

It's officially 2009 now! Happy New Year everyone! We had a couple of friends over for new years and we played a fun game and decorated cookies will icing and sprinkles! Then we colored happy new year coloring pictures and we watched the ball drop on TV! And we all toasted and drank champagne (sparkling juice for the kids). Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a happy holiday! I haven't blogged in a while, i have been pretty busy since Christmas! On Christmas morning my family and i woke up and opened our stockings then we went to the Waffle House in our pajamas! I got a ham and cheese omelet. Yummy. . . Then we went back home and opened our gifts to each other. That afternoon we went to a friends house for a christmas party! That was a lot of fun. Then i went home with my friend for an unexpected sleepover, so i didn't have pajamas or anything! But i had a nice Christmas this year. Here's some of the things i got! :)

Heifer

Last night our homeschool group sold our homemade crafts at a craft show thingy. We were raising money for the heifer foundation. It's a thing where people can donate money and they will buy an animal for a village or a family somewhere who doesn't have much to eat. We had hand-painted cards, christmas ornaments, potholders, potpourri pillows, wooden buttons, little bags, christmas magnets, some little people made out of pine cones and acorns, and i think that was all. . . But it was alot of fun to sell all our handmade stuff to people. We told people about heifer and what we were doing for it. Some people thought it was a really good cause and gave us extra money. We made over $200 and we are donating all of it to the heifer foundation!

Well we had a week of no computer but now i'm back on! We had a really nice week without the computer. We did a lot more stuff and it seemed like we had more time in the day! This week we have been redecorating my room! It's looking really cool! It's a lot different now but it seems more like my room now with all of my stuff in it. Since we moved here it's just been kinda plain and all my decorative room stuff was still in boxes. But it looks a lot better now! :) I had a couple shelves that i painted and hung up on the walls and i have this big poster with tree frogs on it that we put up! It's really cute!! And my mom and i are working on a quilt-- well actually a duvet cover for my bed. It's really cool! We're not finished with it yet though. I'll have to take some pictures and post them up here! Well that's all for now! I'm gonna go jump on the trampoline!

Well, today's the last day of NaBloPoMo. I posted everyday in november! It was fun and i think i will do it again next year. . . Our whole family is having a break from the computer this week. Out neighbors went out of town for a few days so today i went over and fed their dog for them! Then my mom and i went to the store and i got a christmas present for someone but i'm not going to say who! This evening we went to see wall-e in the dollar theatre. It's a funny movie. We just watched Pirates of the Caribbean 3 a little while ago. I like pirates of the caribbean a lot. Today we had leftover thanksgiving food for lunch and then went went out and did a little shopping. (the food was good again :D ) The other day we got me some flannel sheets for my bed. Today we had spanish class. It was fun. We did a review of what we have learned so far. Then i went over to my mom's friend's house to watch her daughter for a couple hours. She's really cute and fun to play with. Then later i gave Georgia a bath! She needed one. Now she's a clean and soft! :) And we went to the library this evening. So that's just what i did today!

Twilight

Today my friend Bea and i went to see twilight in theatres. Twilight is a series of books that Bea and i like. They made it into a movie and it just went into theatres yesterday! I liked it. I still like the books more because they have more details and stuff, but i liked the movie.

Right now i am at Bea's house for a sleepover!! We had a lot of fun tonight at the theatre.

ACE

Today was the last day of ACE until January. On the last day we always do a potluck and a talent show! I walked on my stilts. It was a lot of fun. This session of ACE i have been taking a class where we learn to identify leaves. I think it's really interesting and i have been studying different kinds of leaves. I am also learning the latin names for the leaves. At first they it seemed like they would be really hard to remember, but now i know them really good! Every week we made leaf prints of all the leafs in our notebooks. They look really cool. I can identify 12 different kinds of leaves and i know the latin names too. So that's all for now.

Wildcard Wednesday

Today was Wildcard Wednesday at the library. We always do fun stuff. Today we made leaf pendants out of clay. I did a maple leaf. We picked a color of clay. I used orange. Then you have to warm it up in your hands and make it soft. Then we rolled it out and made the shape of a leaf on the clay with a wooden skewer. Then we took the excess clay and made a little snake out of it to make the loop at the top. Then we put this glitter powder stuff on the leaf. It makes it shimmer. Then we baked them in a toaster oven for a little bit. Put on some cord and voila! Now i have a really cool necklace!

Spanish class

Today we had spanish class. I like leaning spanish alot. It's fun. And i'm learning alot too! Our teacher is nice. She is from Bolivia. I have a binder that i have all my papers in from past activities that we have done. I look back at that often. I'm really enjoying this spanish class. I know some songs and poems in spanish and i can count to 100! I think we have been going to these spanish classes since january or february. It's really fun.

Today we made homemade tomato soup for dinner! It's really yummy. First we blanch the tomatos and then cook them with the other vegatables.

Then we blend it all up so it's smooth.

We make grilled cheese to go with them. Yummy!

On tuesday we went to the fair all day! It was so much fun! We had these bracelets where we could ride unlimited rides so we rode some rides over and over again! We rode a roller coaster that went really fast and it was lots of fun! I think we rode that one 3 or 4 times! And we rode on this one called the himalaya and it was like a roller coaster except it just went really fast in a circle. The centrifugal force was sliding us over to the other side of the cart! But it was really fun.

Wildcard wednesday

Today wildcard wendnesday started back at the library. They dont do them in the sumer time, just during the school year. Well today we made some marble magnets.

Here is a picture of a few of my magnets

What you need for this project is...

some of those clear marbles that are flat on one side
some old magazines or small pictures of things
small round magnets
scissors
and glue

we had a bunch of old magazines and we looked for pictures about the size of the marbles. then you put the marble on the paper and trace it with a pencil. cut out your picture and then put a tiny bit of glue on the back of the marble and put the picture on it facing the marble. press the air bubbles out of it (the glue will dry clear) and then glue the magnet on the back.
they are really cute and fun to make. i like wildcard wednesdays. :D

Home from camp

Camp was a lot of fun! I didnt take any pictures because we were always doing something and i didnt want to carry it around with me everywhere. But we did a lot of really fun stuff. We got to ride horses every day! That was one of my favorite parts. And we went swimming every day and we played fun games. And we had a shaving cream war where we all squirted shaving cream on each other! We were all white after that. It was funny. I had a lot of fun.

For my birthday my grandparents bought me a plane ticket to go visit them in Minnesota for a week. I'm really excited! I leave the 13 of June and get back on the 21. This will be my first time flying on a plane by myself.

I had a lot of fun on my birthday! I put some pictures on here of the things i got. On Friday evening my dad and I went to a restaraunt called The National. I had some fish and it was delicious!

I got a little frog ring from Bea but i couldn't get a good picture of it.

From my Grammy and Pops I got a purse, a wallet, a CD, and some charms for my charm bracelet. One is a dochshund and it's really cute!

From my Grandma and Grandpa i got this mirror that my Grandma made. I also got some frog earrings and some frogs that stick on the windows.

And from my mom and dad i got an envelope. Inside there was the first clue to a scavenger hunt! We followed the 13 clues until the last paper said: FINAL CLUE!! Descend to the lower level and consult the screen upon the table. Enjoy! Then we went downstairs and sitting on the table was a laptop! I was so excited! Here are some pictures of it. Isn't it pretty?
